SAN MARCOS, Texas – It was an intense 90 minutes at the Bobcat Soccer Complex that ended in a 0-0 draw between Texas State and South Alabama Thursday night.

With the result, the Bobcats are now 8-4-5 overall and 4-1-3 in the Sun Belt Conference while the Jaguars are 9-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 in league play.

The visitors outshot Texas State 12-9 with a 6-2 advantage in shots over the final 45 minutes. Both teams placed three shots on frame. Leading the Bobcats with two shots were
Helen Alormenu,
Kaylie Smith and
Mya Ulloa.

In goal,
Katelyn Chrisman recorded two saves to post her first shutout of the season. It was also her fifth career shutout to move into a tie for 10th place in program history with former teammate
Beth Agee.

Monique Gray had a breakaway in the middle of the 29th minute. She got her shot off to beat Chrisman but the ball went just wide of the left post.

The best opportunity for the Bobcats to score in the first half came in the 34th minute.
Lily Erb laid the ball off to
Sydney Bassa, who hit it first time with her left foot. The freshman nearly caught the goalkeeper going the wrong way but she was able to stick her leg out for a kick save.

Early in the 69th minute, South Alabama's Amelia Campanella hit the crossbar on an attempt off a corner kick. Juliana Lopes' follow-up shot was caught by Chrisman.

Victoria Meza had the lone shot on goal for the Bobcats in the second half. It was a header attempt off a corner kick with just under nine minutes left on the clock. The ball unfortunately hit off a defender to cause it to pop back up in the air to be caught by the keeper.

Next up for TXST is the final road match of the regular season with a trip to App State for a 11 a.m. CT kickoff on Sunday.
