NEW ORLEANS – Texas State quarterback
Jordan McCloud was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his five-touchdown performance in the 41-9 win over Arkansas State, league officials announced Monday.
McCloud went 24-for-29 passing for 320 yards and four touchdowns, finding three different receivers for TDs for the second consecutive game, while adding 29 yards and a score on the ground. It was the fifth time this season the Tampa native registered 3+ passing TDs in a game, while accounting for 4+ total TDs four times. He has thrown for 300+ yards on three occasions.
Among active FBS players, McCloud ranks fifth in touchdown passes (77) and sixth in total TDs responsible for (94), and is in the top 20 for completion %, completions, passing yards and total offense.
The Bobcats racked up 591 yards of total offense, a season-high, making it their fourth game of the season with 450+. Defensively, TXST held Arkansas State to zero touchdowns, the first time since September 2022.
McCloud was also named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 for the second time this season for his efforts in Saturday's win and was listed as a Manning Award Star of the Week. The redshirt senior is a member of watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award and the Reese's Senior Bowl.
