LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – Texas State women's basketball suffered a 59-52 loss to Louisiana on Saturday afternoon as a lopsided fourth quarter was the difference between the two sides. Despite a close affair for the first three quarters of the game, Louisiana outscored the Bobcats 24-17 in the fourth and that was the difference maker.
Â
Jaylin Foster showed her veteran presence throughout this game, though. Going for 14 points on the night, with nine of them coming in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats looked to come back late in the game. Despite shooting 7-14 in the fourth, the Bobcats allowed Louisiana to have seven points off turnovers in the fourth that split the game for Texas State.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first quarter was an even-keeled affair between the two sides as both went for 11 points. The Bobcats shot 4-12 while the Ragin' Cajuns went 5-14, creating an equal scoring quarter between the two. From the get-go this game was a close one, with neither side giving an inch early on.
Things continued to go back and forth in the second quarter, as
Ja'Niah Henson,
Kennedy Claybrooks and
Julia Coleman went for four each as the team had a 15-point quarter. While shooting 7-12, the Bobcats were able to grind out a two-point lead headed into the second half. Despite Henson's four points in the second, Louisiana was able to limit her all game, allowing the Bobcats' leading scorer on the season just nine shots.
The defense showed out for both sides in the third as Texas State held Louisiana to another 11-point quarter. The Bobcats out-rebounded Louisiana 11-5 in the third as they limited the Ragin' Cajuns on the scoreboard. Headed into the fourth, things were all tied up again at 35 apiece.Â
Louisiana got out to a hot start in the fourth that put pressure on the Bobcats to respond. The Ragin' Cajuns outscored the Bobcats 13-2 to open the quarter and it was too much for the Bobcats to overcome. At the end of the quarter the Bobcats fought to comeback, scoring 15 points in the final five minutes of the game, but it wasn't enough to stop the 24 point quarter from Louisiana. In the end, the Bobcats suffered a 59-52 loss.Â
