SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Athletics and Vet Tix have renewed their partnership for the 2023-24 academic year as the two will continue to provide complimentary tickets to active and retired military service members for football games and volleyball matches this fall.
Tickets are provided to military members and their families through the donation by Texas State fans and donors who are looking to give back to those that served the United States.
The partnership was a resounding success in 2022 as more than 1,000 tickets were donated by Bobcat Nation to Vet Tix over the course of the football season. The partnership has been expanded to include volleyball tickets in 2023.
Vet Tix provides tickets to events which reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build lifelong memories and encourage service members and veterans to stay engaged with local communities and American life. The organization provides tickets to all branches of currently-serving military and veterans, including immediate family of troops KIA.
Active military and veterans can sign up to participate in the program by visiting vettix.org. Vet Tix will verify service, and VetTixers can request tickets to events that interest them, such as Bobcat football and volleyball.
If a Bobcat fan would like to donate or purchase tickets for local active military or veterans, please contact Lucas Westbrook in the Texas State Athletics ticket office at 512-245-6511 or lucas.westbrook@txstate.edu.
The Central Texas region is home to more than 30,000 active-duty service members (source: Texas Comptroller) while San Marcos has more than 2,000 veterans living in the area, according to the latest population estimates.
