Bobcats Fall to Mean Green

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A back and forth contest saw a scoreless affair until the 62nd minute when North Texas found the back on the net and would eventually claim a 3-0 win over Texas State on Thursday from the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

Attempted two shots apiece for the Bobcats was Madi Goss, Alexis Neal and Olivia Wright. Neal placed both of her shot attempts on frame and Anna Dunch was the only other player with a shot on goal.

Katelyn Chrisman got the start between the posts and made eight saves, one shy of matching her career high.

Mya Ulloa nearly put the Bobcats in front just over two minutes into the contest. A cross into the box saw a one-touch attempt from the senior go just over the crossbar.

Midway through the 22nd minute, Dunch sent in a ball from nearly 30 yards out that saw the Mean Green keeper push the ball over the crossbar to keep the match scoreless.

Texas State was called for a handball at the top of the 18-yard box on the line that awarded UNT a penalty kick. Jenna Sheely's attempt went just under the diving Chrisman to break the scoreless contest.

Nearly 40 seconds later, Neal had an attempt on frame that was cleared away by a Mean Green defender on the goal line.

UNT tacked on two more goals with the first being near the end of the 68th minute from Summer Brown. The final tally was a deep shot by Devyn Flannery into the upper left corner with just over five minutes left on the clock.

Next up for TXST is its first road trip of the season as the team travels down I-35 to take on rival UTSA on Sunday at 7 p.m.
