SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast,
Ciara Trahan of Texas State softball joins as the Bobcats prepare for the NCAA Austin Regional that starts tonight against Texas A&M (6:30 pm, ESPN+).
Trahan was the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2022, and this season, she is third on the team in batting average and second in stolen bases. The Santa Fe, Texas native has played in nearly every game this year in left field and hit in the leadoff spot.
In the podcast, Trahan looks ahead to this weekend's postseason matchups, how her competitive fire drives her, what it has been like this year living up to expectations carried over from last year's award-winning season, and the close relationship she has with her siblings who also played college sports.
As a warning to listeners, Trahan also shares her firsthand experience of being in the Santa Fe High School shooting in 2018. Trahan was a freshman in 2018, and was at school when the tragic event occurred.
