Mora Hits 16th Homer of the Season Tuesday Night

FORT WORTH, Texas – Freshman Chase Mora hit his 16th home run of the season Tuesday night to move him into a tie for sixth on the program's season list with Pancho Hedfelt (1985) and Theodore Hoffman (2017). Despite the round tripper, Texas State fell 8-2 to TCU at Lupton Stadium.

With the result, the Bobcats are now 33-20 overall and the Horned Frogs are 31-21.

Hunter Hodges (1-0) picked up the win after recording the final two outs of the fifth. Peyton Zabel (2-2) struck out three over three frames but allowed four runs on five walks and three hits to suffer the loss.

Working two scoreless innings with a strikeout was Triston Dixon. Also striking out one was Carson Keithley as he worked a scoreless frame of relief.

Jose Gonzalez was the lone TXST player with multiple hits as he recorded two singles.

Mora put the Bobcats in the lead in the second when he sent a 2-2 offering over the right center field wall for a 2-run homer.

The lead was short lived as the Horned Frogs answered with a 2-run homer off the bat of Anthony Silva in the bottom of the inning. They would take the lead with a two-run fame in the fourth.

More runs were tacked on by TCU in the fifth thanks after the hosts got an extra chance on a controversial safe call at third that would have ended the inning. The very next pitch saw the Horned Frogs hit a single to score two and add another tally later in the frame to lead 7-2.

TCU added the final run of the game in the eighth on a single through the left side.

Next up for TXST is the final series of the regular season when it hosts ULM beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m.
