Bobcats Fall to Trojans in Game Two of Series

TROY, Ala. – Texas State dropped the series on Saturday as Troy took the game 22-5 from Riddle-Pace Field.
 
With the result, the Bobcats are now 25-15 on the season and 9-8 in Sun Belt Conference play while the Trojans are 28-12 overall and 10-7 in league action.
 
The win was earned by Grayson Stewart (5-2) after striking out seven and only allowing a run on four hits in six innings. Tony Robie (5-1) took his first loss of the season.
 
Six pitchers were used by the Bobcats out of the bullpen. The only one not to be charged with a run was Carson Keithley, as the lefty tossed two innings and struck out one.
 
Of TXST's nine hits on the afternoon, five of them went for extra-bases with all being doubles. Rashawn Galloway had two base knocks in both of his plate appearances and August Ramirez went 2-for-4 on the day. Driving in a run was Chase Mora, Kameron Weil, Damian Whitfield and Galloway.
 
Ben McClain led off the game with a double to right center off the green monster wall. He would steal third and then score on a double off the bat of Mora for the early 1-0 advantage for the Bobcats.
 
The lead was short lived as the Trojans scored four in the bottom of the first. They would add to their total with a run in the second and five more in the third. After holding the hosts scoreless over the next two innings, Troy put up the game away with a 10-spot with the lone sub made by the hosts being a pinch runner in the frame.
 
An August Ramirez single was followed by Daylan Pena being walked to start the seventh. Rashawn Galloway sent the first pitch he saw over the first base bag for an RBI double. TXST would add two more runs in the frame on a Kameron Weil groundout and a wild pitch.
 
The Trojans kept their heart of the order in the lineup to added two more runs in the seventh.
 
An RBI single from Damian Whitfield in the ninth wrapped up the scoring.
 
The series finale is set for an 11 a.m. first pitch on Sunday.
