LAFAYETTE, La. – After being down 2-0 and losing the first set on five singles courts, Texas State surged back for a 4-3 comeback win over Louisiana on Monday. The win concluded the road schedule for the Bobcats.
Doubles
Texas State (6-14, 2-8 Sun Belt) lost the doubles point in two matches.
Kate Malazonia and
Mae McCutcheon lost the first doubles match of the day 6-3 to Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat on the top court.
Lousiana (8-10, 3-7 Sun Belt) sealed the doubles point on court three when Stephanie Atelius and Momoko Yoshimura defeated
Jadeh Chan and
Emily Niers 7-5 to get the early lead.
Sofia Fortuno and
Maria Lora were down 6-5 when play was stopped.
Singles
The Bobcats lost the first set on all but one court and came back to win the second set on the same courts. Four of six matches went to three sets. Graham clinched the match on the top court with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Urchoeguia.
A similar three-set comeback from Niers gave the Bobcats the lead after a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win on court two.
McCutcheon was the only Bobcat to collect a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win. She now has a three-match win streak on court six. Fortuno's 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Yoshimura evened the score at 2-2.
Malazonia had the first singles loss of the day in straight sets. Louisiana won the final match of the day when Tchanichev defeated Pineda 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
