SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the final non-conference match of the season, Texas State tennis fell 4-0 to No. 65 Brown on Wednesday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Three singles matches went unfinished with Brown clinching the match.
Doubles
Texas State (4-11, 0-5 Sun Belt) dropped their third straight doubles point and 12
th of the season.
Kate Malazonia and
Sofia Fortuno lost the first match of the day 6-1 to Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom on the top court.
Brown (12-6) clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win from Vivian Miller and Nora Lee on line two over
Mae McCutcheon and
Andrea Pineda.
Line three duo
Jadeh Chan and
Maria Lora were up 5-3 when play was stopped.
Singles
Brown's Olivia Mariotti got singles going with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court five over McCutcheon, for her eight straight loss.
Kate Malazonia fought to the end of her first set but couldn't come back in the second with a 7-5, 6-1 loss to Addison Ahlstrom on her return to court three. Brown clinched the match for their fourth point when Nora Lee defeated
Jacqueline Schnabel in her first outing this season.
Kiana Graham,
Emily Niers, and
Andrea Pineda's matches went unfinished. Pineda was up 6-3, 5-4 on court four against Lindsey Hofflander.
