STATESBORO, Ga. – Texas State tennis (4-9, 0-4 Sun Belt) dropped their first conference road match in a 7-0 loss at Georgia Southern (11-3, 2-1 Sun Belt) Saturday, March 25 at the Wallis Tennis Center
This was the first time the Bobcats were swept by an opponent this season, and now have four straight losses.
Doubles
Texas State lost the doubles point beginning with
Kate Malazonia and
Mae McCutcheon losing on the top court 6-1 to Silvia Martinex and Liv Ryan. Georgia Southern clinched the first point of the day when Sonja Keranen and Ana Tsitavets defeated
Jadeh Chan and
Andrea Pineda 6-2 on line two.
Sofia Fortuno and
Maria Lora were up 4-3 on court three when play was stopped.
Singles
All Texas State players lost their singles matches in straight sets,
Emily Niers pushed her first set into a tie-break but fell short in the final match of the day 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 for her first time on court three.
Mae McCutcheon had a quick 6-0, 6-0 loss on court five to Ninon Martinache.
Kate Malazonia was on court two the first time this season, but lost 6-0, 6-1 to Ana Tsitavets.
Georgia Southern clinched the match when Lindsay Tulenko found a 6-2, 6-3 win over
Andrea Pineda.
Kiana Graham came up short in a close 7-5, 6-4 match to Silvia Martinez on the top court.
