SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the latest States Up podcast, Texas State football's David Bailiff speaks for the first time after rejoining the program as a special assistant to the head coach earlier in the week.
Bailiff is a Bobcat. He played for the football team from 1977 to 1980, made multiple stops as an assistant coach, and eventually led the program as the head coach from 2004 to 2006. In his time as a Bobcat, he has won two conference championships and helped set the foundation for the team to even greater heights after he left, whether it was national championships in the early 1980s to moving to the FBS level in the early 2010s.
In the podcast, Bailiff reflects on how emotional it is to return to Texas State, how he has kept up with the program over the last 17 years, memories of the 2005 season, who he has kept close with at Texas State, what he envisions is next for the football program, and more.
