Black Out Game Thursday against Red Wolves

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Thursday night will be a Black Out Game in Strahan Arena when the Texas State men's basketball team (11-14, 4-8 Sun Belt) hosts Arkansas State (10-15, 2-10 Sun Belt) with tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
Black t-shirts and foam fingers will be given out while supplies last.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Suzanne Fox providing the action. Fans can also tune into KTSW 89.9 FM and the Varsity Sports Network app to listen to Clint Shields on the call.
 
About Texas State
Heading into the contest, the Bobcats have dropped three straight after nearly coming back from 23 points down Saturday at Troy. Mason Harrell netted a game-high 20 points, which moved him into seventh place in program history with 1,403 points. The senior guard paces TXST at 16.1 ppg, 33 made three-pointers and an 84.4 free throw percentage.
 
Nighael Ceaser is putting up 8.9 ppg while grabbing a team-high 6.7 rebounds per contest. Tyrel Morgan is right behind him in both scoring (8.7) and rebounds (6.3). Also putting up over seven points a game is Nate Martin at 7.6.
 
About Arkansas State
The Red Wolves snapped a 10-game losing streak on Saturday against Coastal Carolina. They are 1-8 on the road with the lone win coming at Old Dominion in the Sun Belt opener.
 
Omar El-Sheikh enters leading the team in scoring (11.2), rebounding (9.4), made field goals (100, field goal percentage (50.0) and free throw attempts (129). Also with a double-digit scoring mark is Caleb Fields at 11.1 ppg and he is dishing out a team-high 4.6 assists per game. Four players have made at least 25 three-pointers led by 45 by Avery Felts, who is knocking them down at a 38.5% clip.
 
All-Time Series
Texas State has dominated the all-time series with a 12-4 advantage. Back on Jan. 12, the Bobcats went on the road to claim a 61-58 victory and are winners of 11 of the last 12 meetings against ASU.
 
When hosting the Red Wolves, TXST is 6-1 all-time with the last meeting being an 84-67 contest on Feb. 17, 2022. The lone home setback came in the first-ever meeting between the teams on Jan. 4, 2014 that ended 74.69.
