SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State stretched its winning streak to four games thanks to a walk-off win against Kansas and a nightcap victory over Colorado State on Friday in the TXST Classic at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
Â
For the second day in a row, the Bobcats (10-4) had a win in their final at-bat as they loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh against the Jayhawks (7-5).
Sara Vanderford delivered the game-winning ball in play as her hard groundball to the Jayhawk third baseman resulted in an error and allowed
Piper Randolph to score from third and give Texas State a 2-1 win.
Â
In the following game,
JJ Smith hit her first home run as a Bobcat,
Megan Kelnar and
Ciara Trahan had RBI base hits, and
Tori McCann scattered eight hits and a run over six innings to lift Texas State to a 4-1 win over the Rams (8-4).
Â
The winning decision by McCann was her second in as many days and fourth of the season.
Â
Texas State's four-game winning streak is its longest of the young season.
Â
The Bobcats face UTA on Saturday at 6:30 pm for day three of the tournament.

Bobcats Walk Off Jayhawks, 2-1
As starting pitcher
Jessica Mullins limited Kansas to one run on only two hits over seven innings, the Bobcats notched their second walk-off victory in as many days to beat the Jayhawks, 2-1.
Â
Mullins, making her first start of the weekend, picked up her fourth win of the season with her third complete game of the year. She struck out seven to match her season-high and retired 21 of the 24 batters she faced. Her two hits allowed both occurred in the one-run fourth inning, which was after she put away the first 10 Jayhawk batters.
Â
While KU scored its lone run in the top of the fourth, the Bobcats answered in the bottom half to tie it up.
Karmyn Bass and
Katarina Zarate drew one-out walks and after KU got a strikeout for the second out,
Piper Randolph delivered an RBI single to make it 1-1.
Â
The Bobcats, who had a baserunner in six of the seven innings, finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh against KU relief pitcher Lizzy Ludwig. Randolph opened the frame with the final of her three hits and then was advanced to third on an error during
Ciara Trahan's single.
Hannah Earls was intentionally walked to load the bases with no outs, but
Sara Vanderford's groundball made its way under the glove of KU's third baseman Ashlyn Anderson to plate Randolph for the game-winning run.
Â
Bobcats Put Away Colorado State, 4-1
Tori McCann held Colorado State scoreless for the first six innings while Texas State scored runs in three of its six innings at the plate as the Bobcats topped the Rams, 4-1.
Â
McCann, who pitched a shutout against UTSA on Thursday, improved to 4-1 with the winning decision. The right-hander threw six-plus innings, struck out four, and issued no walks.
Â
The Bobcat bats, meanwhile, scored a run in the second after putting runners on the corners with two outs.
Katarina Zarate stole second base, which drew an errant throw by the Colorado State catcher and allowed
Anna Jones to score from third to make it 1-0.
Â
In the fourth,
Megan Kelnar and
Ciara Trahan had RBI base knocks to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
Karmyn Bass led off the inning with a double, and then Kelnar drove her home with an RBI single up the middle. Two batters later, Trahan hit a double down the left field line to score Kelnar.
Â
JJ Smith capped the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning, her first home run as a Bobcat and the third roundtripper of the year for Texas State.
Â
Colorado State staged a threat in the top of the seventh, starting with back-to-back hits off McCann. Mullins spelled McCann following the second hit, but Mullins issued a walk to the first batter she faced to load the bases with no outs.
Â
Mullins settled in by striking out Molly Gates for the inning's first out but then walked Peyton Allen to trim the Texas State lead to 4-1. Mullins then induced a lineout double play to end the game.
Â
Six Bobcats had a hit, including two apiece from Trahan and Smith.
