Martin Earns CSC Academic All-District Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Texas State men's basketball player Nate Martin was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. He is third Bobcat to make one of the teams and first since 2011.

Martin is averaging 7.6 point and 4.8 rebounds per game while appearing in 24 games and making 21 starts. He is shooting a team-high 49.6% from the field and has knocked down 57-of-77 (74.0%) free throw attempts. On the defensive end, the junior has blocked 20 shots and recorded nine steals.

This season has seen Martin score at least 10 points six times with his first being a 13-poitn effort against Mary Hardin-Baylor. That would be the first of three consecutive double-digit scoring games. The Cypress, Texas native would score a career-high 16 points against Marshall on Jan. 19. That night saw him make 6-of-8 shots, make 4-of-5 from the charity stripe and grab seven rebounds with five being on the offensive glass.

In the classroom, Martin has earned a 3.74 GPA while majoring in finance. He has twice been named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List and the Texas State Dean's List.

Martin joins John Rybak (2010) and Jonathan Sloan (2011) as TXST players to earn the academic honor.
