SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State tennis dropped their home match to UTRGV 5-2 Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Andrea Pineda and
Mae McCutcheon were the only Bobcats to pick up wins against the Vaqueros.
Doubles
Texas State (1-5) was unable to get a doubles win against UTRGV (2-3).
Jadeh Chan and
Sofia Fortuno finished first and lost 6-2 to Barbara Martinez and Lea Karren on court two. UTRGV clinched the doubles point after Isabelle Bahr and Majorie Souza defeated
Mae McCutcheon and
Kate Malazonia 6-2.
Emma Carr and
Jacqueline Schnabel made their spring season debut but fell short 6-3 on court three to Daniela Rosenberger and Yaiza Vazquez.
Singles
Andrea Pineda and McCutcheon were the Bobcats responsible for Texas State's points against the Vaqueros. Pineda picked up her fourth singles win of the season and first point of the match for Texas State on court four after winning 6-0, 7-5 against Barbara Martinez.
Mae McCutcheon bounced back from last weekend with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Yaiza Vazquez on court five.
UTRGV clinched the match on court six after Daniela Rosenberger took a three-set win over
Maria Lora 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
