States Up Podcast: Triston Dixon

Pitcher opens up about having to watch last year's postseason run from the dugout and bullpen

SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State baseball's Triston Dixon gets ready for the 2023 Opening Day by discussing where his love for baseball comes from, his passion for playing guitar – and performing duos with teammate Austin Smith – and what last year's team taught this year's version as it looks to replicate the success from 2022.

Originally from Conroe, Texas, Dixon started his collegiate career at Brookhaven College and Angelina College before joining the Bobcats for the 2021 season. He had a breakout year, though, in 2022 as he appeared in 27 games and had a 2.93 ERA in 58 1/3 innings. He served primarily in the setup role and helped the Bobcats for an unprecedented run.

Dixon's 2022 season was hindered by a back injury towards the end of the campaign, though. As his teammates were fighting at the Stanford Regional, all he could do was cheer from the dugout and bullpen as he tried to push himself into game action.

In the podcast, Dixon discusses what that was like to have to sit and watch while wanting to compete and what the 2022 team was so good at and how it has factored into the prep for the 2023 season. He also discusses his love for playing guitar and hunting as well as what ultimately brought him to San Marcos.

The podcast can be heard on SpotifyApple, Amazon Music, and Google.
