Bobcats Fall to Cowgirls 67-52

STILLWATER, Okla. – Texas State headed to Big 12 country to face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and suffered a 67-52 loss on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening quarter of play was a physical one between the two sides. The game stayed close despite low scoring early in the quarter. The Cowgirls went on a 7-0 scoring run to end the quarter, though, which gave them an 18-10 deficit to overcome after the first quarter.

The second quarter was all Bobcats. After going on a 6-0 run to start the quarter, the 'Cats started rolling. With five points from Ja'Niah Henson and four off the bench from freshman Julia Coleman, pairing that with limiting the Cowgirls to 3-12 shooting, the Bobcats drew the game level at the halftime break. The Bobcats shot 6-12 in the second quarter, and it was the difference maker as the Bobcats held the Cowgirls to just seven points.

Out of the halftime break, though, the Cowgirls rediscovered their momentum. Quincy Noble heated up and shot 3-5 in the third for eight points. The Bobcats got no rebounds in the third quarter as well. The Cowgirls took a 49-35 lead after a 24 points third quarter.

Through the fourth quarter the Bobcats were able to bounce back and find some success shooting again. After shooting 7-10 in the final quarter with six points from Timia Jefferson and five points from Jaylin Foster, the Bobcats had its highest scoring quarter of the game notching 17 points. Despite this, though, the Cowgirls still came away with the 67-52 win.

  • The Bobcats are now 5-3 on the season.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will return home to face Denver on Dec. 14. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off inside Strahan Arena, it will also be streamed on ESPN+. Following that game the Bobcats will hit the road for the Florida International Holiday Tournament.
