“Everyone Eats” as 11 Bobcats Play 10+ Minutes Each in 79-41 Win over UNT Dallas

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Bobcats had a total team effort in its 79-41 win over UNT Dallas on Sunday afternoon. All 11 players on the team who dressed for the game playing at least 10 minutes in the Bobcats win at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The team started off the game off shooting well, going up 10-4 early on. Ja'Niah Henson had the hot hand early going 3-3 including a three-point attempt early on to give herself seven points in seven minutes through the first quarter. The Bobcats, as a team, shot 57% in the opening quarter going 8-14. At the end of the first quarter the Bobcats had outscored the Trailblazers 20-10.

The second quarter was the Bobcats' highest scoring. The team shot an impressive 69.2% while going 9-13 from the field to tally 24 points in the second quarter alone. With Tiffany Tullis heating up for eight points and three rebounds, the Bobcats had more than doubled their score to the Trailblazers. Additionally, Kennedy Claybrooks came in off the bench and went 3-3 for seven points in the second quarter alone. She'd end the night with a career-high 13 points. The Bobcats bench made up 21 points in the first half alone.

The bench continued to dominate for the Bobcats in the third quarter when they made up 10 of the 18 points scored that quarter. Julia Coleman tacked on seven more points while Kennedy Claybrooks had another three of her own. That, and 15 rebounds from the Bobcats, helped the Bobcats head into the final quarter with a 62-31 lead.

To cap off the night Morgan Hill went for nine points in the fourth quarter as she shot 4-7 to lead the team. She paired that with four rebounds as well. The points were a career-high, hit in just a single quarter of play. At the end of 40 minutes the Bobcats won 79-41 while shooting 29-55 on the night with four players in double-digits.

WHAT HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANOTINE SAID: "This is a game where we had a great opportunity to play a lot of people. This is the type of game you need coming off the road and going into finals. It's a game where we can work on a lot of different things and work on ourselves. We know what we need to do to get better and after taking a look at the last five games and see how we're trending and there's things we need to get better at. That's a lot of what we've worked on preparing for today."

GAME NOTES
  • Following today's win the Bobcats improve to 5-2 on the year.
  • Freshman Julia Coleman had a career-high 15 points in the Bobcats win tonight. She paired that with two rebounds and a steal. Her 15 points included a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line and 5-6 from the field.
  • Sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks also had a career-high with 13 points against the Trailblazers.
  • Morgan Hill had a season-high nine points tonight as well as tied her season-high rebounds with six. 
  • Crystal Smith had a season-high five rebounds tonight.
  • Emillia Steele saw her first minutes as a Bobcat which saw her score two points and tally three assists, two steals and a block.
  • Head coach Zenarae Antoine sits at 192 career wins following tonight's win. Antoine is the winningest coach in program history as she narrows in on the 200th win landmark.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will head back out on the road for a game at Big-12 opponent Oklahoma State. The game is slated for Saturday, Dec. 9that 2 p.m..
