SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (4-5) hits the road to take on longtime former conference foe Sam Houston (6-5) on Friday. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

The Bobcats are coming off 49-point win over Jarvis Christian on Monday. Seven players scored in double-figures led by
Jordan Mason with 20.
The sophomore guard leads the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game and has made a team-high 85.0% of his free throw attempts.
Brandon Love is contributing 11.4 ppg and is grabbing a team-high 6.8 rebounds per contest. Also with a double-digit scoring mark is
Kaden Gumbs at 10.5. The freshman also paces the squad with 4.3 assists per game.
Love has blocked 26 shots this season, which is the second most in the Sun Belt Conference and seventh in the nation. The junior forward has rejected as many or more shots as 85 teams in the country.
Both
Dylan Dawson (9.0) and
Joshua O'Garro (9.2) are netting at least nine points a contest. Dawson paces the team with 13 made three-pointers while O'Garro has a team best 13 steals and is second with 6.3 rpg.
About Sam Houston
Tuesday saw the Bearkats defeat fellow Sun Belt Conference member ULM 63-62 at home. The victory saw them improve to 3-1 at home that also includes victories over Lamar and Paul Quinn. Sam Houston's only home setback came on Nov. 9 to Utah Valley in a 79-73 contest that went to overtime.
Davon Barnes leads the team in scoring at 15.4 ppg. He is shooting 39.0% from the field while making a team-high 21 three-pointers and going 52-for-58 (89.7%) at the free throw line. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Lamar Wilkerson at 12.9. The junior guard has also knocked down 20 three-pointers and is making 88.9% (32-of-36) of his charity stripe attempts.
Grabbing over five rebounds a contest is Souleymayne Doumbia (5.1), Damon Nicholas, Jr. (6.1) and Kian Scroggins (5.9). Nicholas leads the squad with 19 steals while a team-high nine blocks have been recorded by Doumbia.
All-Time Series vs. Bearkats
Friday will be the 177th meeting between the teams, the most games against an opponent. Texas State leads the all-time series 92-84 with the victory total being the most over a single program in team history.
Sam Houston has won the last four meetings and 15 of the past 19. Last time the Bobcats claimed a win as on Jan. 19, 2011 by a score of 95-91 in San Marcos.
When playing in Huntsville, TXST is 26-35 in the known road contests and have dropped the last 10. Texas State's last victory on the road against the Bearkats was a 72-69 contest on Feb. 24, 2001.
