JONESBORO, Arkansas — Texas State volleyball completed its weekend 2-0 on the road at Arkansas State. The Bobcats swept the Redwolves in the second game of the weekend with a conference-play high .352 hitting percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Through three sets, Arkansas State only held a lead one time. The Bobcats started off with a big block from
Samantha Wunsch and
Jade Defraeye and from there it was full-steam ahead for Texas State.  The Bobcats capitalized off a slew of attack errors from Arkansas State to help get a comfortable 25-18 win in set one. Highlighted by three kills apiece from
Maggie Walsh and
Samantha Wunsch, the Bobcats hit an impressive .429 in the opening set of the match.
Set two saw more of the same fluid attack from the Bobcats. After getting out on a 10-5 lead, the Bobcats kept up the prolific swinging to find a 25-16 set win. The team swung .419 in set two with Wunsch and
KJ Johnson getting four kills apiece. That, paired with four team blocks in set two, helped the Bobcats to the set win.
Walsh and Johnson continued their impressive nights with five kills apiece in set three. Despite third set being a battle early on, the Bobcats were able to pull away towards the end. The home side held the set close within a few points throughout, but they were never able to reclaim the lead after winning the opening point. From there the Bobcats continued to control things and play its style of volleyball as they found a 25-21 win in set three to get the sweep.
