Texas State women's basketball (15-6, 7-3 Sun Belt) picked up two wins at home last week and has moved into a four-way tied for second in the Sun Belt -- and more importantly, setting up a battle for first place this Thursday at home. The Bobcats beat Old Dominion 52-46, and came out on top in overtime for a 62-52 win over Southern Miss, which was leading the conference. Da'Nasia Hood, Kennedy Taylor and Ja'Kayla Bowie all scored in double-digits against the Golden Eagles. The two home matchups this week will be Play4Kay pink games with pink tee giveaways. The Bobcats welcome Troy (13-8, 8-2 Sun Belt), who currently sit at the top of the conference standings, on Thursday and look to avenge their 79-63 loss to the Trojans in December. On Saturday, Texas State will meet with ULM (7-14, 3-7 Sun Belt) once again this season after the Bobcats took a 65-57 win over the Warhawks in January.

Men's basketball (11-12, 4-6 Sun Belt) split its pair of road games last week beginning with a 70-67 win against Georgia Southern at home to snap a three-game losing streak. In the game, Nighael Ceaser matched his career best of 23 points. Following that, Texas State lost 58-67 to co-leading Southern Miss to start its three-game road trip. The Bobcats face Louisiana (18-4, 8-2 Sun Belt) Thursday night, and the Ragin' Cajuns are tied with Southern Miss for the conference lead. Texas State caps the road trip with a visit to Troy (13-10, 5-5 Sun Belt) on Saturday night. This will be the second time Texas State faces these teams after losing to both in the previous meetings.

The Bobcats will leave Texas for the first time this season when they compete in Albuquerque this weekend, which is the site of the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Women's Tennis
Saturday, February 4—at UIW

San Antonio, Texas
The Bobcats are now 1-1 after opening their 2023 season on the road at Sam Houston and Houston. The team won their first match of the season at the earliest opportunity, the Bobcats narrowly defeated the Bearkats 4-3. Sofia Fortuno clinched the winning point on court six, saving three match points. The match with Houston brought weather delays and ultimately was moved indoors. Texas State fell 4-1 against the Cougars after dropping the doubles point early. Kiana Graham earned the lone point of the match for the Bobcats. Another weekend road match is set for the Bobcats when they travel to San Antonio to take on UIW.
