Bobcats and Eagles Meet for First Time Since 2020

SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the first time in nearly three years, the Texas State men's basketball team (10-11, 3-5 Sun Belt) will face Georgia Southern (12-9, 5-3 Sun Belt) on the hardwood when the programs meet Thursday night on Jeff Foster Court in Strahan Arena at 7 p.m.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Suzanne Fox calling the action. Fans can also tune into KTSW 89.9 FM and the Varsity Sports Network app to listen to Clint Shields on the call.

About Texas State
The Bobcats look to snap a three-game losing streak with the most recent setback being by nine points to Louisiana on Saturday. That afternoon saw Jordan Mason set career-highs of 19 points and seven rebounds as he was the lone TXST player to reach double-figures offensively. It was also the seventh time in Sun Belt Conference action that the Bobcats had held an opponent to less than 62 points.

Mason Harrell paces the team offensively at 16.2 ppg with 29 made three-pointers and 21 steals. He is eighth in program history in scoring at 1,373 points and needs 13 more to surpass Kavin Gilder-Tilbury for seventh place.

Behind Harrell, four players are putting up at least seven points a contest in Nighael Ceaser (7.2), Brandon Davis (7.1), Nate Martin (7.9) and Tyrel Morgan (8.5). Ceaser leads the team with 7.2 rpg and 15 blocks while Morgan is second on the boards at 6.0 per contest.

Drue Drinnon leads TXST in three-point shooting (38.0%) and assists (48) while matching Harrell for most on the squad with 21. Mason has started the last seven games and in that span is contributing 8.7 ppg on 45.5% shooting, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg and 1.3 spg.

About Georgia Southern
The Eagles opened conference play with three straight wins but are 2-3 over their last five games. On Saturday, they beat rival Georgia State at home 58-52. Away from Statesboro, GS is 4-5 with a 2-1 mark against Sun Belt foes. Thursday is the first of four consecutive road games.

Andrie Savrasov leads the Eagles in scoring at 12.9 ppg and with 28 steals. He is shooting 49.8% from the field and is grabbing 6.8 rpg, both second best on the team behind Carlos Curry at 66.3 FG% and 7.0 rpg. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Jalen Finch (10.6 ppg) while pacing the squad with 74 assists and 30 steals.

Coming off the bench, Tyren Moore has knocked down a team best 33 three-pointers.
