White Closes Out NCAA Regionals

BRYAN, Texas- Evan White ended his run as an individual in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship Wednesday afternoon at Traditions Club.

White finished the Bryan regional 12-over 228 and tied for eighth among 10 individual competitors and tied for 53rd overall. The field included one nationally ranked player and eight top-50 ranked teams from across the country.

"It was a fantastic week for Evan as he competed for a spot in the National Championship at the A&M regional," said Texas State men's golf head coach Shane Howell. "He played solid golf all week and the putts just wouldn't fall for him."

The senior finished the final round five-over par, and 12-over after the 54 holes. Today he had a birdie on hole 15 and suffered two double bogeys.

White jumped one spot from the second round, but it was not enough to advance to the Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Aymeric Laussot from TCU and No. 96 Canon Claycomb from Alabama tied as the top individuals.

White ends his season with his name in the history books, being just the fourth Bobcat golfer to win the conference individual championship and advance to the NCAA Regionals.

Howell on White's accomplishment, "I couldn't be prouder of him, and Texas State supporters should be proud of the way he competed on the national stage at the NCAA's. His leadership and golf has taken Bobcat golf to the level we want it to be year in and year out."
