Jeff and Jamie Foster Make Gift to Men's Basketball Program

NBA veteran and Hall of Honor member to give back to the Bobcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Athletics is proud to recognize Jeff ('09) and Jamie Foster for their gift to men's basketball to support the further growth and development of the program. In appreciation of the gift, the court at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center will be dedicated in Jeff's name.

"Texas State provided me the opportunity to explore my academic interests and develop athletically," said Jeff Foster. "Jamie and I look forward to watching current and future Texas State men's basketball players work hard to achieve their goals and feel the support I experienced as a student-athlete."

Foster, a Texas State Distinguished Alumni Award winner and Hall of Honor member who played 13 seasons in the NBA, and his family made the gift with distributions to be made to aid in the advancement of the entire program and its student-athletes.

"Jeff and Jamie have remained committed to making an impact on the lives of Texas State student-athletes, and this gift continues to prove their passion for this university," said Director of Athletics Don Coryell. "Not only are the lives of today's student-athletes going to be impacted by this gift, but future champions as well. We greatly appreciate the support of the Foster family as we continue to attract, recruit, and retain the best and brightest men's basketball student-athletes in Texas and around the country. Now we just need to find Jeff an additional year of eligibility!"

Foster, a member of Texas State men's basketball from 1995 to 1999, helped the Bobcats win two Southland Conference regular season titles as well as a tournament championship in 1997 that led the team to the NCAA Tournament. He finished his Texas State career with 1,000+ points and 900+ rebounds and is one of three men's basketball players to have their jersey numbers retired. He was selected 21st overall in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and played in more than 760 career NBA games.

"The impact of Jeff's legacy is already felt around the Texas State's men's basketball program, and this new gift from the Foster family changes the game for us once again," said head men's basketball coach Terrence Johnson. "Our guys already see his jersey number hanging in the rafters and understand what he has contributed to this program on the court, but now current and future Bobcat student-athletes will have their experience at Texas State benefited even more by the Foster family's generous gift."

With this gift, which is pending Texas State University System Board of Regents approval, Jeff and Jamie become the 71st members of the Texas State Heroes. The Fosters have generously donated back to Texas State while also being involved with charitable events.
