SAN MARCOS, Texas - In the latest episode of the States Up podcast, Texas State football's Ty Evans and Layne Hatcher share their stories of eventually arriving in San Marcos and competing for the quarterback spot for the Bobcats.

Both from families with multiple college athletes, the quarterbacks have had the same path to Texas State as transfers: Evans from NC State and Hatcher from Arkansas State. Evans discusses how he has benefited from working with the same offensive staff for the first time in his college career while also sharing what it was like to battle back from COVID-19 last season. Hatcher gives insight into his decision to transfer within the conference while sharing some of his earlier college experiences, such as attending the Manning Passing Academy.
