SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State student-athletes Brad Jackson and Torrance Burgess Jr. gained national attention this week for their performances in the Bobcats' 66-27 win over Colorado State on October 15.

Jackson earned accolades from the Davey O'Brien Award as part of its Great 8, while the duo was listed as honorable mention selections by the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

Jackson accounted for four touchdowns throwing for 213 yards and a touchdown while completing 14 of 19 passes. He also rushed for 181 yards, a program record for a quarterback, and three touchdowns on 13 carries, averaging 13.9 yards per carry, as the Bobcats set school records with 716 total yards and 503 rushing yards. It was his second career three-rushing touchdown game and 12th career with at least one rushing and one passing touchdown.

Burgess Jr. rushed for career highs of 224 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries as the Bobcats became the first FBS team to rush for at least 500 yards against another FBS opponent since 2021. The Pearland, Texas, native was the only FBS player to rush for at least 200 yards in week seven and led the nation in rushing yards for the week. He became the first FBS player this season to record at least 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the same game.

Burgess Jr. also added a season-high 52 receiving yards on three catches to finish with 276 all-purpose yards, the most by an FBS player in a game this season. Through seven weeks, Burgess Jr. leads the FBS in rushing yards per game (139.7) and yards per carry (7.76). He ranks second nationally with 838 rushing yards and third in all-purpose yards per game (153.5). He also leads the country with six runs of at least 40 yards and five of at least 50 yards.
