SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas State (4-13, 1-6) started out strong in doubles, but Georgia State (13-5, 6-1) rallied back to win the match 4-2.
"Georgia State was an extremely difficult team," said head coach
Tory Plunkett. "I thought we did well in the doubles, we kind of had a little bit of a hiccup and we overcame it. For singles we had some matches that were competing exceptionally well, and then we had some matches that weren't, and it was kind of an up and down match."

Hana Kvapilova and
Kate Malazonia lead the Bobcats to a quick start by winning the No. 1 doubles match 6-4.

Singles
Maria Lora was the only Bobcat to win a singles match, she earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory on court five.
"Maria ended up playing a fantastic match to close it out really really strong, and thanks to Kate for staying in her match long enough so that Maria can do it," said Plunkett. "So, there's some positive things and those are the things that we're going to walk away with and focus on tomorrow."
Kate Malazonia had a close loss, with a tiebreaker in set two. She lost to Sofya Golubovskaya 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
Hana Kvapilova had to retire due to injury in the second set of her match against reigning Conference Player of the Week, Eva Chivu.
Coach Plunkett on what happened to Hana, "She has an injury, we're trying to take care of that so she can finish off the rest of the semester. I felt like if we continue with that it was going to get worse and worse and worse. There are so many injuries that we can play through, and some that we can't, so we're trying to do the best thing for the tennis program and make sure that she stays in that lineup able to compete the rest of the semester."
