Bobcats Fall to Troy 4-3 in Deciding Match

SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas State's (4-11, 1-4) loss against Troy (7-9, 2-3) at home came down to a final match with Sofia Fortuno and a tiebreaker set. Troy leaves town with a 4-3 victory.

"Extremely disappointing loss," said Texas State women's tennis head coach Tory Plunkett. "Tough one to take, we had nine match points, nine opportunities to win that match. The freshmen will learn and be stronger players for it. It's a tough one but we still have to move on if were still going to do something in conference."

Doubles
Sofia Fortuno and Kylee Shannon put the Bobcats up to a quick start when they defeated Olivia Elliot and Kranziska Ahrend 6-1 on court three.

Hana Kvapilova and Kate Malazonia clinched the doubles point for the third time this season. The duo won their match 6-3 against Troy's Anastasiia Khokhlova and Andrea Widing on court one.

Singles
Seniors Hana Kvapilova and Renata Gonzalez were the only Bobcats to win their singles matches.

Kvapilova, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, defeated Kristina Kukaras 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 on line one. She was able to battle back and win the first singles match of the day for Texas State.

Gonzalez has not been in the singles lineup since March 12, where she lost against Gonzaga. At home today, Gonzalez won the No. 6 match 6-2, 7-5.
