SAN ANTONIO – Texas State outhit Incarnate Word 10 to four Tuesday night. However, three Bobcat errors proved to be the difference in the 4-2 setback at Sullivan Field.

With the defeat, TXST drops to 18-4 on the year while the Cardinals are now 10-8.

Trevis Sudngren (2-2) took the loss as he allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one. Carson Rollins (1-0) allowed a run on six hits in six frames to pick up the win. Earning his fourth save was Chandler David after he recorded the final six outs of the game.

Out of the bullpen,
Triston Dixon threw two scoreless frames and struck out two.
Carson Keithley,
Matthew Nicholas and
Austin Smith all recorded an out in eighth.

Ben McClain went 3-for-4 at the plate and recorded the only extra base hit of the night for the Bobcats with a double.
Daylan Pena finished with two base knocks and two RBI.
Â
Peyton Lewis led off the third with a single to center and advanced to second on a groundout. A 1-1 pitch to Pena was laced to right center to bring home Lewis and give the Bobcats a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Cardinals would respond with two runs in the bottom half of the inning behind two TXST miscues. They would add two more runs in the fourth with both runners coming home on an RBI single back up the middle.

McClain led off the seventh with an infield single and
Cameron Gibbons followed with a single of his own to center. Two batters later,
Isaiah Ortega-Jones was plunked to load the bases. Pena came through with a ball hit into the hole on the left side to bring home a run and cut the deficit to 4-2.

Lewis was able to draw a leadoff walk in the ninth but the next three batters were retired to end the game and snap TXST's eight-game winning streak.

Next up for the Bobcats is a three-game series against Coastal Carolina at Bobcat Ballpark beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
