BOONE, N.C.- Texas State (4-10, 1-3) suffered a 4-0 loss to Appalachian State (3-9, 1-2) in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at the Deer Valley Racquet Club.
"Today's loss was tough," said Assistant Coach
Kendall Brooks. "We had some adversity that we weren't able to overcome. App State played well and took care of business. We will need to regroup and learn from this and prepare for the next one at home next week."
Doubles
Hana Kvapilova and
Kate Malazonia lost 6-1 on line one to give Appalachian State the edge in doubles.
The Bobcats saw hope when
Sofia Fortuno and
Kylee Shannon defeated Brooke Gruber and Olwyn Ryan-Bovey 6-3 on line three.
Appalachian State clinched the doubles point when
Mae McCutcheon and
Jadeh Chan lost the line two match 7-6 (7-5).
Singles
The Mountaineers won three singles matches to give them the 4-0 win.
McCutcheon lost 6-4, 6-4 on line three to Elli Murphy, Malazonia went 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.
Hana Kvapilova's three-match win streak came to an end when she lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 on line one to Helena Jansen.
