CONWAY, S.C.- Bobcats (4-9, 1-2) lost 5-2 at Coastal Carolina (7-6, 2-1) where they started out strong in doubles, but fell short in singles.
"We came out strong today," said Texas State women's head coach
Tory Plunkett. "We did well in the first half, but Coastal Carolina was too tough in the end. We have a new team with some young players. Each match we are getting better and better and looking forward to App State."
Doubles
The Bobcats won the doubles point for the third time this season.
Sophomore duo
Mae McCutcheon and
Jadeh Chan won the first doubles match of the day when they defeated Mathilde Tranberg and Paola Landin Lopez on line two 6-1.
Hana Kvapilova and
Kate Malazonia are on a two-match win streak after clinching the doubles point on line one 7-5 against Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins, spoiling the pairs 6-0 record.
Singles
Hana Kvapilova was the only Bobcat to win a singles match when she defeated De Samucewicz 6-3, 7-5 to improve her win streak to four in the No. 1 singles.
Kate Malazonia lost the No. 2 singles 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) to Tranberg.
Mae McCutcheon fell 6-2 6-4 in her match on line three.
