SAN MARCOS, TX — Coming off an emotional roller coaster win on Thursday night, the Texas State women's basketball program used a highly-productive third quarter to earn its 66-58 win over ULM on Saturday.
With ULM leading by 10 at 43-33 with 6:11 following a pair of Kierra Crockett free throws,
Jaeda Reed started took a
Kennedy Taylor pass and converted on a turnaround jumper in the paint to cut it to single digits. Reed's basket sparked a 9-0 run to cut the Bobcats' deficit to one. Over the last three minutes of the quarter, Texas State went on an 8-2 scoring run to take a 50-47 lead into the third quarter.
Sierra Dickson's free throw with 35 seconds left in the quarter gave the Bobcats a 48-47 lead, which was Texas State's first lead since 9-6 during the first quarter. Taylor was instrumental in giving the home time a three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter as she was credited with a steal and assist on a Dickson layup with 16 seconds left in the quarter.
FROM HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANTOINE
"If you take a look at the x's and o's of the game, I was probably more stressed out about this game than any other conference game — and you can ask my coaching staff — not because it was a trap game, but I truly believe she has very good players on her team. For whatever reason, they just haven't gotten over that hump yet and I didn't want that hump to be Texas State."
