SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men's basketball head coach
Terrence Johnson announced the non-conference portion of the 2022-23 schedule on Tuesday. The slate features 13 games with five taking place in Strahan Arena.
Prior to starting the season, the Bobcats will host Cameron on Nov. 2 in an exhibition contest.
The regular season tips off with a trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Washington State on Nov. 7. It will be the second ever meeting between the teams with the first being a five-point overtime setback in Dec. 2015.
A matchup with Mid-America Christian on Nov. 10 is the first home game on the schedule and the only one in the month of November. Texas State wraps up the first week of the season with a trip to the Northeast for the first-ever game against Rhode Island that slated for Nov. 12.
The I-35 rivalry on the hardwood makes a return for the first time since 2019 on Nov. 17 when the Bobcats travel to face UTSA.
Thanksgiving week begins with a road trip to the Golden State for a Nov. 21 game against California. Texas State will stay on the road and celebrate the holiday in Laie, Hawai'i while also competing in the North Shore Classic. The Bobcats open the tournament against Southern Utah that Friday and will play either Hawai'i or Sacramento State the next day.
December begins with the final non-conference road game of the season that sees TXST head to Beaumont to face Lamar.
Rice comes to town Dec. 4 and that is followed with a game at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas against rival UT Arlington.
The final three non-conference games take place in Strahan Arena beginning with Mary Hardin-Baylor on Dec. 13. Sam Houston is next on the docket four days later with it being the first time the teams will have met on the court in 10 years. Non-conference play concludes on Dec. 21 against the University of Sciences & Arts of Oklahoma.
