Homecoming, Throwback Game Among Promos for Southern Miss

Throwback pricing with $1 sodas and giveaways also in the promotional slate

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A throwback game on Homecoming week highlights the promotional slate for the Texas State football game against Southern Miss on Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.
 
The 4 p.m. game between Sun Belt Conference foes will welcome back Texas State alumni and all of Bobcat Nation alike. The Bobcats are defending their perfect home record (3-0) against one of the newest members of the Sun Belt, Southern Miss.
 
The first few thousand fans will receive a free megaphone while the first few hundred students will receive free popcorn.
 
Also, as part of the "throwback" theme is throwback pricing at concession stands. All 16 oz. fountain drinks will be $1 throughout the game.
 
The team will throw it back with special edition helmets honoring an old logo used by former teams. Fans are encouraged to join in and wear throwback merchandise as well. The football game culminates a Homecoming week of activities at Texas State, which have included pep rallies, block parties, a talent show and the annual Soap Box Derby. At halftime, the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.
 
The Homecoming court is a part of a halftime show that will include on-field recognitions of this year's Texas State University Distinguished Alumni, Young Alumni Rising Stars, and the Denise M. Trauth Outstanding Leadership Award winner. Also, the world-renowned Strutters will have a special extended performance as well as the Bobcat Marching Band.
 
Former Texas State standout and eight-year NFL veteran, Fred Evans, will be recognized live at the game. He will be among more than 50 confirmed former players in attendance.
 
In the H-E-B Katzengarten, there will be free pork sliders and mini cans of Coke Zero sugar, while supplies last, courtesy of Coca-Cola.
 
Tailgate Central is sold out, but other tailgating options are available for fans. Fans can tailgate in the Spring Lake Field and UEC Field for free. The Texas State Alumni Association will also be hosting its last tailgate of the season. Registration is required and can be done at alumni.txstate.edu. Tailgating lots will open at 8 a.m.

As part of a new tailgating policy that is going into effect starting this weekend, tailgates in all lots will be asked to shut down 15 minutes before kickoff to ensure all fans can enter the stadium and watch the game.
 
Tickets are available at TXST.com/tickets. The Texas State Athletics Ticket Office will also be open on gameday starting at 10 a.m. while gates open at 2:30 p.m.
