GLADEWATER, Texas – Texas State advanced two spots on the leaderboard in the final round of the Tempest Collegiate to claim first while
Tom Roed Karlsen also secured the top spot, along with a second-place finish from
Terrin Anderson.
"It was a great team win this week at Tempest," said Texas State men's golf Head Coach
Shane Howell. "All of the guys on the team had a hand in the victory at some point during the tournament.
Tom Roed Karlsen led us on the final day with an incredible final round which also clinched the individual title for him. This team continues to grow every single day and this win provides confidence in each other as we enter our final two events this fall."
Team
The Bobcats shot their lowest round of 281 in the final outing on the Tempest golf course. The team was able to make up a nine-stroke deficit to pass Rice who was leading in the first two rounds.
Texas State shot seven-under in the third round to put them at seven-under overall. They finished the tournament with a four-stroke lead against second-place finisher South Alabama.
Through all three rounds the Bobcats maintained a spot in the top three in a field of 11 teams they hosted.
Individual
Junior transfer
Tom Roed Karlsen moved up 22 spots on the leaderboard to finish first among 63 players. In just his second outing for the Bobcats Karlsen shot a round of 66, his lowest of the tournament and among all players. He shot six-under with the help of eight birdies in the final round.
Senior
Terrin Anderson moved from third to second to finish the tournament three-under and the top-finisher among individuals.
Harrison Hineline was also a strong individual competitor, finishing second in that group.
Freshman
Sakke Siltala recorded an eagle on hole 13 followed by two birdies to help him jump 16 spots and tied for seventh.
Hayes Hutton also had an eagle on hole 13 and shot a 72 in the third round, his lowest of the tournament.
