SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the first time this season the Texas State men's basketball team (11-4, 2-1 Sun Belt) will play a conference road game when it faces Little Rock (6-8, 1-1 Sun Belt) on Thursday. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. inside Jack Stephens Arena.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can also catch the action on the Varsity Sports Network and KTSW 89.9 FM with
Clint Shields.
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Coming off a weekend in which he averaged over 20 points a contest,
Caleb Asberry upped his scoring average to 14.3 per game. The senior is shooting 45.4% from the field and has made a team-high 31 three-pointers.
Isiah Small comes in scoring 11.2 ppg and grabbing a team-high 6.9 rpg.
Mason Harrell, who just played his 100th career game on Saturday, is netting 10.6 ppg while dishing out 2.6 apg. Inching closer to a double-digit scoring average is
Shelby Adams at 9.7 per contest while making 53.8% of his shots.
SCOUTING LITTLE ROCK
Little Rock hasn't played a game since Thursday, Jan. 8 at ULM, an 80-72 loss, due to COVID protocols within the program. The Trojans lone Sun Belt Conference victory was a 78-66 game over Georgia Southern at home. When playing in the Jack Stephens Center, LR is 5-2 with four non-conference wins of which three are over non-Division I foes.
Four players are averaging double-figures in points led by Nikola Maric at 15.6. He is also grabbing a team best 6.3 rpg. Isaiah Palermo and Marko Lucic are netting 12.9 and 11.4 ppg, respectively. DeAntoni Gordon comes in averaging 10.4 ppg but hasn't played since Dec. 1 at Colorado State.
SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series is 11-9 in favor of Texas State. The Bobcats have won five consecutive games and nine of the last 10 meetings. Last season saw them win 63-59 and 67-56 on the road. Last win for Little Rock came on Jan. 2, 2020 at home by a 72-68 score. When playing the Trojans on the road, TXST is 4-6 all-time.
