SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team returns to the court as they open its fall camp Monday, Aug. 9 at Strahan Arena.

"It is really exciting to be back on the court," said head coach Sean Huiet. "At the beginning it is about getting the little details taken care of so to be back in the gym and getting back to work was a blessing."

The Bobcats are the reigning Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champions and logged a 31-9 overall record, including a 15-1 conference mark last season. They look to continue the legacy the Bobcat volleyball program has built as they strive for a fourth consecutive Sun Belt Conference Championship and the first-ever trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. The last Sun Belt Conference team to win four consecutive Sun Belt Conference tournament championship titles were South Florida in 1986-89.

"We have big goals," said coach Huiet. "The talk in our meetings has been about doing something we have never done before here at Texas State. We want to win a fourth Sun Belt Championship. We know the conference is a lot better and everyone will be out to get us. We also know we want to go to the [NCAA] Sweet 16. To achieve these goals, we put together a schedule against top 25 schools to prepare us not just for conference, but also for the NCAA Tournament field of competition."

Texas State will return all its starters from the 2020 campaign headlined by three-time Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Year, senior Emily DeWalt, and All-Sun Belt selections in senior outside hitter Janell Fitzgerald (first-team), senior middle blocker Tyeranee Scott (first-team), and junior outside hitter Lauren Teske (second-team). The team will have three total newcomers, including Maryland graduate transfer Jada Gardner (outside hitter) and a pair of true freshmen in Logan Leroux (setter) and Jacqueline Lee (defensive specialist).
