Texas State Women’s Tennis Team Falls 4-1 at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas State women's tennis team suffered its fifth straight loss when the Bobcats fell 4-1 at UTSA on the UTSA Tennis Courts. The loss drops Texas State's record to 5-11 this season.
 
DOUBLES RESULT
UTSA (8-9) captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match after victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 contests. Chacadyah Israel-Lewis and Renata Gonzalez fell 6-1 against Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique on the No. 3 courts. Hana Kvapilova and Rishona Israel-Lewis suffered a 6-3 loss against Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare in the top-seeded match.
 
SINGLES RESULTS
The Roadrunners took a 3-0 lead after winning the first two decisions in singles matches. Chacadyah Israel-Lewis suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss against Catalina Cabrique in the No. 5 contest. Then, Rishona Israel-Lewis fell 6-3, 6-0 against Zlatarova in the No. 2 match.
 
Hana Kvapilova scored Texas State's only point by defeating Jasmin Starr, 6-1, 7-6 after winning the second-set tiebreaker 6-4 on the No. 1 court. Kvapilova improved her record to 12-2 overall this year with an 11-1 mark in No. 1 singles matches. Her lone loss was at against No. 18-ranked Anna Turati of Texas.
 
UTSA clinched the victory when Nikita Pradeep suffered a 7-6, 6-4 loss against Alexandra Weir in the No. 3 contest. Pradeep lost the first-set tiebreaker 6-4.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Texas State closes out its regular season when the Bobcats host UTA in a Sun Belt Conference match at the Bobcat Tennis Complex beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.
 
The Bobcats will recognize three players who are competing in their final home match on Saturday. The three are seniors Andrea Fuchs and Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez, who are four-year letterwinners, and graduate transfer Nikita Pradeep.
 
UTA enters Saturday's match with a 15-3 record after defeating North Texas 4-3 on April 7. The Mavs are 7-0 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Bobcats seek their first Sun Belt win of the season.
