ARLINGTON, Texas –The Texas State women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 at UTA on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center.
With the loss, Texas State falls to 5-7 overall and 0-4 in Sun Belt Conference matches, while UTA improves to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the Sun Belt.
DOUBLES RESULT
UTA clinched the double point by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis and
Nikita Pradeep fell 6-2 in the No. 2 contest against Bruna Casasampere and Momoka Horiguchi.
Renata Gonzalez and
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez suffered a 6-2 loss on the No. 3 court versus Carla Pons and Almudena Boza.
SINGLES RESULTS
UTA took a 2-0 lead when
C. Israel-Lewis fell 6-0, 6-0 against Pons in the No. 4 match. Murcia-Rodriguez suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss versus Boza in the fifth-seeded contest, and Gonzalez suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss against Casasampere in the No. 6 bout.
WHAT'S NEXT
Texas State will play five more road contests before returning to the Bobcat Tennis Complex for its final home match of the season. The Bobcats play at No. 2 Texas on March 30, Prairie View on March 31, Louisiana on April 3, ULM on April 4, and UTSA on April 9. Texas State closes out the regular season with a home match against UTA on April 10.
