STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team won their first road match of the season and improved to 5-6 overall with a 4-1 victory at Tarleton State at the Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts on Saturday.

The Bobcats won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches.
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez and
Renata Gonzalez began the day with a 6-2 victory over Celia Vaudiau and Elsa Boisson on the No. 3 court.

Tarleton evened the score in doubles to Â1-1 when Mihaela Codreanu and Faustine Palatte won a 7-5 decision over
Nikita Pradeep and
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis in the No. 2 match.

Texas State captured the doubles point when
Hana Kvapilova and
Rishona Israel-Lewis won a tiebreaker, 9-7, and edge Jemi Aguilar and Martha Makantasi, 7-6, in the top-seeded doubles contest.

The Bobcats took a Â3-0 lead when
Hana Kvapilova and
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez won their singles matches. Kvapilova defeated Codreanu, 6-2, 6-2, in the top-seeded match for her ninth consecutive win in No. 1 matches this spring.

Murcia-Rodriguez defeated Vaudiau in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, on the No. 5 court. It was her first victory in singles matches this season.
Renata Gonzalez clinched Texas State's fifth win of the season when she defeated Palatte in three sets. Gonzalez dropped the first set, 6-1, before coming back to win the second set, 6-2, and third, 6-0. The win improves her record to 4-3 in No. 6 matches this season.

The Bobcats return to Sun Belt Conference play when they travel to UTA for a match that begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington.
