SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State Athletics Department named Selina Flores as the new director of the Texas State Strutters.
 
Flores was named director after serving as the assistant director for the Strutters in 2020 and the assistant director for the award-winning Langham Creek High School Bailadoras dance team from 2018-20.
 
She went to Langham Creek after being a member of The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for two seasons. While on the team, she performed with Eric Church and Thomas Rhett during nationally-televised halftime shows, performed at the Hall of Fame Game and Hall of Fame Parade in Canton, Ohio, and was selected to go on the 82nd USO Tour to Air Force bases around the country.
 
Flores joined the Cowboys after serving as a co-captain leader and cheerleader for the Mesquite Marshals Indoor Football team in 2015-16.
 
A Texas State graduate, Flores was a three-year officer while on the Strutters from 2011-15, serving as the senior head captain, junior lieutenant, and sophomore lieutenant. She also performed on the Strutters Jazz Elite and Pom squads. During her time on the Strutters, she also worked as a choreographer and teacher at a dance studio in New Braunfels, Texas, for three years.
 
She performed with the Strutters at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Paris Disney Day Parade, Dallas Children's Hospital Christmas Parade, the Strutters Spectacular Spring Show, the Strutters Christmas Spectacular, Bobcat home football games, and the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament.
 
Flores came to Texas State after she was a four-year member and two-year officer as a junior lieutenant and head captain for the Silver Spurs dance team at Smithson Valley High School. She performed with the Silver Spurs at football and basketball games, the Comal County Parade, and the Silver Spurs Spring Show.
 
She is currently in her ninth year on staff at ShowMakers of America Dance Company. Flores is also a competition choreographer and teacher at an Austin dance studio.  She will continue to work with Tammy Fife, who will assist Flores as the Strutters Coordinator.
