Strutters to Perform at Transplant Games

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State University Strutters have been invited to perform at the Opening Ceremonies of the Transplant Games of America! The ceremony will take place in Houston, Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m., at the BBVA Compass Stadium, which seats 22,000 people.

 

Thirty-one members of the Texas State Strutters will drive to Houston Friday, July 11 for a practice from 1 p.m.,-4 p.m.   From 5 p.m., - 9 p.m., the girls will help with a balloon sculpture project (being built at the convention center).   The girls will also take part in a big press event and live TV pre-show on Saturday evening.

 

Event Details: The Transplant Games of America (TGA) is a national, festival-style, non-profit event for individuals who have either received major organ transplants or are organ donors. The purpose of the games is to raise awareness of the tremendous advances in the field of transplantation, and the critical need for organ donation as well as to recognize organ donors (both living and deceased) and their families.

The Transplant Games of America follows a 22 year tradition and are held biennially. Athletes participate in up to fourteen different sports as well as up to fifteen different special events - special events are open to all. Participants come from all over the United States as well as Puerto Rico, but are not limited to these areas.
