Texas State Men’s Basketball Plays at Rice on Tuesday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team looks to win its fourth straight game and even its record in road games to 2-2 when the Bobcats travel to Houston and play the Rice Owls on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse.
 
CUSAtv will stream the game with J.P. Heath calling the action. In addition, Bobcat fans can listen to Clint Shields describe the action on The Varsity Network App and KTSW 89.9 FM.
 
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Texas State (4-2) plays its sixth game away from Strahan Arena at Rice. The Bobcats opened the season with a 75-57 victory at Incarnate Word on Nov. 9, before falling at LSU on Nov. 12 and at Vanderbilt on Nov. 14. Texas State won the Good Sam Empire Classic after defeating Dixie State and Eastern Washington on Nov. 19-20 in Northridge, Calif.
 
Caleb Asberry leads Texas State in scoring with 15.5 points per game, while Isiah Small leads the Bobcats in rebounds with 7.3 rebounds per game. Small and Mason Harrell are averaging 10.5 points per contest.
 
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Rice enters Tuesday night's game with a 4-3 record after going 2-2 on a four-game road trip. The Owls began the road trip with a win at New Orleans and a triple-overtime victory over Evansville on Nov. 22 at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla. However, the Owls dropped their final two games in the tournament against Oakland and Fordham.
 
Rice is 2-0 in home games this season after defeating Pepperdine 82-63 on Nov. 9 and beating Southern 81-63 on Nov. 16.
 
Sophomore guard Travis Evee leads the Owls in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Sophomore forward Max Fiedler is averaging 11.6 points and leads the Owls in rebounding with a 9.7 average.

SERIES HISTORY
Texas State and Rice meet for the 15th time in a series that began with three games in Houston in 1919-20. The Bobcats have a 5-9 series record against the Owls but have won the last two meetings. Texas State won the last game between the two schools, 74-60, on Nov. 28, 2018, in San Marcos. The Bobcats won the last game played in Houston, 74-66, on Dec. 22, 2017. Texas State is 4-7 overall in games played at Rice.
