ROADBLOCK: Scott sets program’s career block assist record as TXST routes ULM

SAN MARCOS, Texas — While Texas State's volleyball program picked up its first three-set victory at home since March 25, 2021, on Friday, it was Tyeranee Scott who stole the show.

Scott, the senior middle blocker out of Houston, Texas by way of Jersey Village High School, entered the Bobcats' conference match with ULM (5-13, 1-2) just two block assists shy of tying Amber Calhoun (2008-11) for the program's career block assist mark of 325.

Scott wasted no time achieving that feat as she was credited with two block assists — to go along with two kills — during the match's first set. Her first block assist, which combined with Caitlan Buettner, put the Bobcats (6-10, 2-1) up 2-0 early. The record-tying 325th career block assist for Scott came midway through the first set when she combined with Emily DeWalt to extend the Bobcats' lead to 15-8.

Scott's record-breaking 326th career block assist came when she and Buettner blocked an attack from ULM's Kathryn Raschilla to extend the Bobcats' scoring run to 11-1 to start the second set.

During the match's third set, Scott continued to stay hot at the net as she was credited with five block assists to cap an eight block-assist performance to go along with nine kills on 13 attacks (.692 hitting percentage). Scott will enter Saturday's match against Louisiana with 331 career block assists.

FROM HEAD COACH SEAN HUIET

"That felt really good. We had a couple team meetings this week and just wanted to get back to Bobcat volleyball. I'm just really proud of how we responded. That was about as clean as we've played (this season). I don't think we had any (attack) errors until the end of the second set. We had some really good numbers. It was really great to see Tyeranee become the all-time block assist leader in school history. There was a lot of good on our side of the net tonight. I'm just really, really proud."

FROM SENIOR MIDDLE BLOCKER TYERANEE SCOTT

"I really just want to thank all my coaches and my team, for sure, for preparing me. I've been here for a really long time, so it's great to be able to set a record here at Texas State."
