SETTING THE SCENE
Both Texas State and Boston College are coming off conference wins. The Bobcats opened Sun Belt Conference Play with a 38-17 victory at ULM, and Boston College began its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule with a 26-6 victory at Duke.

Texas State's win at ULM marked the first road win under second-year head Jake Spavital, and for the first time in school history, Texas State has opened its Sun Belt schedule with a road win.

Texas State quarterback Tyler Vitt was selected as a Davey O'Brien "Week 3 Great 8" selection and was one of eight quarterbacks named a Manning Award "Stars of the Week" after leading the Bobcats to a 38-17 win at ULM last Saturday. Vitt earned the honors after completing 14-of-21 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He also led the team with 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award named both Tyler Vitt and senior wide receiver Jeremiah Haydel as Honorable Mention selections for its Week 3 National Player of the Week award. Haydel caught six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns at ULM.

Jarron Morris' 100-yard interception return for a touchdown at ULM tied a Texas State school record for the longest interception return in school history. Morris' interception return tied Robbie Robinson's 100-yard return against Lamar in 1959.

Texas State enters Saturday's game having won the coin toss record at the beginning of each game and during the overtime period against UTSA.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
In Boston College's win at Duke, the Eagles outscored the Blue Devils 16-0 in the third quarter to break open a close contest. BC led 7-6 after the first quarter before exploding for 19 unanswered points to seal the victory.

Jeff Hafley is in his first season as a head coach after serving as the co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State in 2019. Hafley was named Boston College's 36th head coach in program history on Dec. 14, 2019. He also coached in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Quarterback Phil Jurkovec completed 17-of-23 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns against Duke. It was the first collegiate start for the Notre Dame transfer.

David Bailey paced the Eagles' running attack with 51 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts. Boston College finished the game with 84 total rushing yards on 42 attempts.

Boston College's Zay Flowers (5 receptions, 162 yards, one touchdown) and Hunter Long (7-93-1) combined for 255 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Boston College forced five turnovers against Duke.
