SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State University men's golfers Calvin Ross, Ben Swaffield, and Evan White were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, announced Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
 
All three players were named to the Dean's List in the 2019 fall semester, and the second straight year that Ross has been named an All-American Scholar. 

Ross averaged 73.0 strokes per round while playing in seven tournaments. He recorded eight par or better rounds and had three in the 60s. Ross posted a season-low round of 65 in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
 
Swaffield had a 75.83 average after playing in six tournaments. He recorded par or better scores in two rounds and shot a season-low 67 at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate tournament.
 
White averaged 75.17 strokes per round in six tournaments and recorded three par or better rounds. He shot a season-low 69 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
 
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. They also must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team's competitive rounds.
 
It was a record-setting year for the award as 614 student-athletes earned the title of All-America Scholar, the most since the award's inception in 1982. Of the 614 honorees, 376 players were Division I selections, 99 in Division II, 108 in Division III, 18 from NAIA, and 12 from NJCAA. 2020 marks the first year in which sophomores are eligible.
