HOUSTON – Junior
Wesley Faison hit a home run in Saturday night's game. However, the Texas State baseball team (7-4) fell 5-1 to Houston (3-7) at Schroeder Field.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard first their first time at bat. Ryan Hernandez put them up 1-0 when he tripled down the right field line.

UH would tack on two more runs in the third when Hernandez hit a two-run home run over the left field fence. Two batters later, Ian McMillan hit a solo shot to left to increase the Cougars' advantage to four.

Faison put the Bobcats on the scoreboard in the fifth. He smashed a 3-2 offering over the left field wall for his second homer of the season.

In the sixth, UH got a run back on an RBI single from Kyle Lovelace to go up 5-1.

Jaxon Williams led off the seventh with a single back up the middle. Both
Colton Moore and Faison were plunked to load the bases with no outs. However, the Cougars used two relievers to get the next three batters out to hold Texas State off the scoreboard.

Taking the loss was
Trevis Sundgren (1-1) as the junior right-hander gave up four runs on six hits in five innings while striking out three. Clay Aguilar (1-0) earned the win after surrendering a run on five hits and posting five strikeouts. Picking up his first save of the year was Carter Henry in which he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings with # strikeouts.

Also seeing action on the mound for TXST was
Cameron Bush. The redshirt freshman struck out four in three innings of work.

Justin Thompson, Faison, Moore and Faison.

The rubber match of the series is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
