SAN MARCOS, Texas – Seven home games, two intrastate rivalry games, a nationally-televised midweek game on ESPNU, and six games against 2019 bowl teams highlight the 2020 Texas State football schedule released on Friday by the Sun Belt Conference and ESPN.
Texas State opens the 2020 campaign with three home games in September. First, TXST plays back-to-back home games against intrastate rivals SMU and UTSA. The Bobcats play against their first 2019 bowl team when they host the Mustangs for the first time on September 5. A week later, Texas State renews its I-35 rivalry on September 12 when UTSA returns to Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats begin their Sun Belt Conference schedule with the first road game of the season when they travel to ULM on September 19. Texas State closes out the month against another 2019 bowl team when it hosts Ohio at Bobcat Stadium for the first time on September 26.
Texas State opens October with three straight road games, including a pair of Sun Belt Conference games. First, TXST plays its final non-conference game at New Mexico State on October 3.
The Bobcats play a nationally televised midweek game on ESPNU on Thursday, October 8, when they play a Sun Belt Conference game at Troy. They return to the state of Alabama for another Sun Belt contest at South Alabama on October 17.
Following an off-week, Texas State plays four consecutive 2019 bowl teams. The Bobcats play their first two Sun Belt Conference home games of the 2020 season, when they host Louisiana on October 31 and open November hosting defending Sun Belt champion Appalachian State on November 7.
Texas State plays at Georgia Southern on November 14 before closing out the season with two straight home games. The Bobcats host Arkansas State on November 21 and Coastal Carolina on November 28.
