WACO, Texas - The Texas State women's softball team (9-5) ended the Baylor Invitational as it started. The Bobcats won their final game against Tulsa (8-6) on Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium by jumping out to an early lead and using strong pitching performances to defeat the Golden Hurricane 2-0.

Texas State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when
Christiana McDowell reached on an error and advanced to second base. Hailee MacKay reached first base on another error, and McDowell advanced to third base. McDowell scored when
ArieAnn Bell hit into a fielder's choice at second base that forced MacKay.
The Bobcats scored an insurance run in the top of the second inning when Samantha Lagway reached first base after being hit by a pitch. Texas State drew two more walks to load the bases, before McDowell drew the third walk in the inning to drive in Lagway for a 2-0 lead.
On the mound,
Dalilah Barrera didn't allow a hit until the top of the sixth inning, when she surrendered a single to Tulsa's Kyndal Pirtle. Barrera left the game with a one-hit shutout through five innings with six strikeouts to improve her record to 3-1.
Tori McCann came in to pitch the final two innings for her second save of the season.
The win against Tulsa came after Texas State earned its first win in the tournament against No. 17-ranked Minnesota on Friday. The Bobcats scored two runs in the second inning and added a decisive third run in the third inning against the Golden Gophers. Just as they did against Tulsa, the Bobcats received strong pitching performances from
Meagan King and McCann, who picked up her first save against Minnesota.

The Bobcats scored their two runs after two Tulsa fielding errors in the first inning and four walks in the second inning.

The Bobcats also face two games on Feb. 29 versus Utah State at 11 a.m. and UC Davis at 4 p.m. The final two games are against St. Mary's at 11 a.m. and at UC Davis at 1:30 on Mar. 1.
